Brief overview

Visual flare

Each student was tasked with developing a restaurant menu utilizing a wordmark design that they designed themselves. The theme/style of food, as well as the food items, are open to the student, but they should take into consideration the theme created by their logo. I had designed a fiery restaurant wordmark and quickly realized that a barbecue-themed restaurant would be the perfect match for it. The bold, flame-inspired typography naturally evoked the heat, smoke, and intensity associated with open-fire cooking. The sharp edges, warm color palette, and dynamic movement within the wordmark all suggested a brand centered around grilling, smoking, and char-flame flavors. Because of this, a barbecue concept felt like the most authentic and visually cohesive direction. By pairing the fiery wordmark with a restaurant theme built around steel grates, sizzling grills, and smoky aromas, the brand instantly gained a strong identity, one that communicates warmth, energy, and the bold spirit of flame-driven cooking.

PROCESS

A COMPLICATED PROCESS

There were multiple ways that I could have taken this project. I had already had in mind the direction that I had wanted to take the design of the menu. How I was actually going to go towards that direction was a different struggle altogether. After a total of 10 rough concepts, I decided to seperate all major foods into 3 special pages, put the special foods on one, and use the word mark on it’s own special cover page
